Nikon Coolpix S7c is WiFi enabled

nikoncoolpixs7c.jpgIn April we discussed the WiFi capability of the Nikon Coolpix S6 . Now we have the new Nikon Coolpix S7c a 7.1 megapixel digital camera which also has similar WiFi capabilities. Like the S6 the S7c has Nikon's new sleek and interesting wave-surface design and is a great looking camera.  The WiFi capability (802.11b/g) enables the easy transfer of pictures  to your computer or a compatible printer.

However what is interesting is the new service established by Nikon called "Coolpix direct"  which allows you to transfer images direct  to the coolpix direct server, assuming you have suitable WiFi access to hand. You can then provide access to friends and family to view or download your pictures.  It is not the service itself that is particularly interesting, it is the fact that Nikon feels that this sort of service and innovation is needed to compete in the market.  It also suggests that WiFi availability is becoming more and more accepted as something that is useful and needed. It may also eventually be seen as a right !!!  But I am not sure we are there yet.

Nikon are making some deals with WiFi providers to bundle WiFi access and subscription to  Coolpix direct, with T-Mobile for instance in the US.  The Nikon Coolpix S7c goes on sale in the UK in September.
