Wii gets a price for Europe

wii.jpgThe Wii the upcoming games console from Nintendo will cost under 250 Euros (about £170) when it goes on sale in Europe. This news comes from an interview with Bernd Fakesch, head of German operations at the company, who mentioned the figure in an interview at the Leipzig Game Convention. Still no exact date for the Wii's release in Europe has been set.

The Wii is interesting in that Nintendo's strategy is all about being different. Lower power will mean lower cost, but the console comes with innovative game controllers which rely on motion sensors, and Nintendo have promised new and innovative games. Well if the unexpected success of the Nintendo DS is anything to go on, they may yet have unexpected success with the Wii, but the competition is much stronger. Its going to be interesting.
